Traditionally, swimming in the Seine hasn’t been allowed due to concerns about safety and cleanliness. However, a 1.4 Bilion Euro investments in water treatment and purification systems, will transform the river into an safer environment that meets the standards required for Olympic events.
The decision to introduce riverbathing is part of an initiative aimed at enhancing the citys offerings and leaving a lasting legacy well beyond the Olympic Games. By opening up the Seine for swimming Paris aims to provide an experience for both athletes and tourists showcasing the citys dedication to innovation and sustainability.
As part of this endeavor, specific areas along the Seines banks will be designated for swimming. Supervised by lifeguards, These chosen locations will guarantee the safety of swimmers allowing people of all ages and swimming abilities to join in.
To make the riverbathing experience even better, rental services for swimming equipment like floats and inflatable rafts will be offered. This inclusive approach aims to make riverbathing accessible to everyone regardless of their background ensuring that everyone can enjoy the pleasure of swimming in the heart of the city.
When will swimming in the Seine River in Paris be allowed?
The goal is to have at least 5 spots along the Seine River to be open to the public for swimming by summer 2025.
